Assassin's "Double Attack" skill
Um... Does anybody know anything about this ?
From pg. 18 of the Factions Pre-Order booklet: DAMAGE BUFFS: "A team with several Assassin / Warriors can deal a lot of damage. Using the skill Double Strike and using buffs that increase your speed of attack will deliver a lot of pain in a very short time." From pg. 58 of the Guild Wars Factions Manuscripts - Dagger Mastery description, in part: "This attribute also improves your chances of performing a Double Attack and striking with both daggers at once." Ok, so the pre-order description makes it sound like a skill, but I have not seen it in any skill list. The regular Factions manuscript description makes it sound almost like critical hits are for other professions, they just happen every so often. So, has anyone heard anything about this, such as how often they occur, what they depend on, how the chances increase with increased DM levels, etc...? edit: Actually, I just noticed one is Double Attack and the other is Double Strike. Now I'm even more confused, because there is no Double Strike skill... is there ? Last edited by Swinging Fists; May 02, 2006 at 09:58 PM // 21:58.. |

Double striking and double attacking is the same thing. It is the action of performing 2 attacks in the time allocated to a single attack. Daggers attack at a rate of once every 1.333 seconds. If you double strike, you will attack twice in 1.333 seconds.
Double-striking is an inherent ability that only assassins get, just like critical-striking (which is also available to Warriors and Rangers based on their weapon attribute proficency level). It's not an activated skill, but rather an effect that is constant. Based on how high your Dagger Mastery attribute is, you have a higher percent chance of performing a double-strike with each attack you make, even while using attack skills. I'm not sure, but I believe that with a 12 in Dagger Mastery, your character has about a 20% chance to double strike against another equally leveled foe. If the Foe is higher level than you, the chance is reduced. If you're higher level than your foe, the chance is increased. If I'm wrong on this, someone please post the correct statistics. That "Double Strike" skill may have been an early name for Locust's Fury, which increases your chance to get double strikes.

Also, you probably already noticed, but all "Dual Attack" skills result in a double strike (and the bonus damage/effect is applied to both strikes)
